altamira
altamira is a sculptural and photographic installation based on the relationship between human presence and stone as the first surface of representation. Drawing from the Paleolithic cave of Altamira, the project considers rock not only as material, but as memory - one of the earliest supports for visual expression. Four fragments of human image have been transferred onto stone. This encounter between photographic paper and geological surface evokes a slow fusion between body and matter, between the earliest and latest technologies of inscription. altamira invites a tactile, temporal attention, where the image is not shown, but sedimented.
